Several Months ago we went to my 90 year old mother’s doctor. She did the regular blood test. One of them being one for her blood sugar levels.
The Doctor office calls back the next day and tells me that I can take your mom off her diabetes and blood pressure medication. That is a huge thing since my mother has been on diabetic medications for over 20 years! My mom doesn’t exercise or hardly move during the day so I know it wasn’t because of any exercise.
So what caused all this good news? We have had my mother on a product called Vivix, a product from Shaklee Corporation that is considered an anti-aging product. Dr. David Sinclair from Harvard had guided Shaklee in producing Vivix.
When Dr. Sinclair started researching resveratrol he was actually going to produce a product for diabetics with resveratrol. He found that resveratrol and other polyphenols actually made the insulin receptor cells more sensitive hence, the body using insulin more effective.
Diabetes has increased a whopping 35% in the last decade. Until now, the only non-pharmacologic way to improve insulin sensitivigy and reduce your risk of developing diabetes has been calorie restriction and weight loss-which can be a challenge for many people.
And like my 90 year old mother telling her to exercise is a futile battle. But this study may provide an answer for this as well. The study participates showed significant increases in markers of mitochondrial function. (remember mitochondria gives your body energy) The increases seen in the study were similar to those seen with endurance training. So you actually get the energy benefits assoicated with exercise and ramp up your mitochondria just by taking a resveratrol supplement.
What if you did all three: Ate right, exercised and took a resveratrol product like Vivix…imagine what the results would be?
A recentĀ Dutch study published this month in Cell Metabolism, showed that taking a resveratrol for 30 days significantly lowered multiple markers associated with
- heart disease
- diabetes
- Cancer
and many other chronic disease markers such as
- inflammation
- improved mitochondrial capacity (these are the little furnances that provide energy in each cell
- lowered blood pressure
- blood glucose
Inflammation is the root of literally hundreds of diseases, this has immense potential health implications. And we know chronic inflammation leads not only to age-related diseases but accelerates aging as well!
The study also showed a reduction in both blood pressure and triglyceride levels, both of which are associated with heart disease risk.
The most significant human study to date, shows the health benefits of resveratrol that addresses many of the chronic age-related diseases of our time, has just be published
Below is a picture of a study on how Vivix increased mitochondria better than just resveratrol alone:
